Current waiting times: 1 – 4 weeks
Thank you for considering a referral to our virtual menopause and women’s health clinic. We provide patient-centred care for women across Alberta experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause.
Our clinic is led by physicians who are Menopause Society Certified Practitioners and is focused exclusively on hormonal transition and midlife health concerns. We value collaborative care and strive to keep you informed throughout your patient’s journey with us.
We see most patients virtually but will assess a few patients in-person if needed.
Our Clinic Model
- Our primary clinic model is virtual, and patients book their own appointments online by using a link we send to them.
- If you and/or your patient would prefer an in-person appointment, Dr Dzawanda and Dr Akpan-Ntem also run a physical menopause clinic at the SCPCN Wellness Centre in Chaparral, SE Calgary. Our physical clinic location operates differently — patients are contacted directly by staff to arrange appointments. Please fax a referral letter to 403-668-8610. Our staff will triage to either of them. Learn more HERE.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive assessment of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms
- Hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options
- Management of common menopause-related concerns such as:
- Vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats)
- Sleep disturbances
- Mood and cognitive changes
- Vaginal/genitourinary symptoms
- Libido and sexual health
- Ongoing follow-up and treatment adjustments as needed
Scope of Care
Please note that we do not manage unrelated chronic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease) or conditions not directly associated with perimenopause or menopause. We focus on care related to hormonal transition and refer back to the primary care provider for any unrelated health concerns.
Communication and Continuity
We believe in shared care. A consultation letter will be sent to the referring physician after the initial visit and following any significant follow-up appointments or changes in management.
What Your Patient Can Expect
- A guided intake process, including a secure digital questionnaire and, if needed, lab requisitions
- A detailed initial consultation via video
- Collaborative care planning — no pressure to start hormone therapy unless appropriate and desired
- Regular follow-up (typically every 3 – 6 months if on hormone therapy, or as needed)
